The SSP tubing-retrievable safety valve (TRSV) is designed to shut in a well at a position below the surface. The safety valve is normally closed without external hydraulic pressure. The safety valve is held open by hydraulic control pressure and remains open until the control-line pressure is exhausted. Potential leak paths within the valve are minimized with the single rod-piston design. The piston achieves a metal-to-metal (MTM) seal at its uppermost and lowermost positions to reduce the impact from bottom hole pressure. The SSP TRSV using spherical sealing surfaces that help greatly improve seal reliability. The spherical seal design provides full MTM sealing integrity, designed for hostile environments and higher requirements service.
