The installation of chemical injection systems in production wells allows various chemicals to be injected directly into the well stream. Chemical treatment may be required to prevent corrosion, prevent scaling or paraffin deposition, or reduce the likelihood of hydrate plug formation. Chemical injection mandrels are eccentric non-welded mandrels with control ports machined directly into the inner wall of the mandrel. Eliminating welds helps prevent failures due to non-uniform material properties in the heat-affected zone of the weld. Another advantage of the non-welded design is the solid construction of the control wire connections and the protected section of the mandrel. These side raised structures protect the control wire connections during installation.
